TRANSFERED: Sweet as Sugar, Pretty as Pie: Adoptable Young Dilute Calico, Atlanta

About 6 months ago, the Atlanta animal rescue community was horrified to learn that dozens of cats – all ages, shapes, sizes, and varying degrees of health – had been dumped behind a bowling alley in Snellville, Georgia, where there had been a relatively small and stable feral colony. As a group, we stepped up and found placement for the animals with different rescues and individuals alike. Many of them have now found their forever home and we are thankful for every one of the families that have invited them into their home! Other bowling alley kitties are just now “coming on the market” after being cared for and nursed back to good health. We’d like you to meet Sugar and Salt, two of our sweet bowling alley kitties. Sugar is a sweet 1.5 year old dilute calico. “Dilute” means that her colors are softer and fade gently together, a little like a watercolor painting. Her fur is amazingly soft, too! She is, absolutely, as sweet as sugar, shy and very gentle. She talks to her foster mother all the time – especially when she is about to get food – and likes to snooze with her human. Sugar loves other cats, but would rather not hang out with dogs. Sugar has a soft white muzzle, a long ringed tail, and long white whiskers along with her watercolor calico colors! She has huge, wide, surprisingly dark amber eyes, too. Sugar visited an adoption event for the first time in early May, and did very well, although although her eyes are sensitive to stress. We know that Sugar will find her forever home soon, and then it won’t be a problem! Like all SNAP animals, Sugar is fully vetted, spayed and microchipped. Because she is over a year old, her adoption fee is just $25! Sugar can be an only cat in the home, but will probably function best with other company. She will definitely be the shy member of your feline family. We think you would like to meet Sugar, so please drop us a note to arrange it. You can also apply to adopt Sugar...

ADOPTED! Gentle Jezebel, Watercolor Hued Dilute Calico Kitty, Adoptable in Atlanta

Gentle Jezebel is what is known as a dilute calico because of the delicate, watercolor peach and gray shades (with the occasional spot of gold) of her cloud-soft fur.  She has luxuriously long white whiskers, fluffy soft-as-silk fur, and glowing green-gold eyes that highlight the gold portions of her fur. When she sits still, in just the right light, Jezebel is a living piece of feline art. Jezebel’s foster mother rescued gentle Jezebel from an apartment complex on Buford Highway in Atlanta. We don’t know a lot about Jezzie’s early life – she is a year and a half old now – but think that at one time she had a family.  When she was found, poor Jezebel was struggling to swallow because of a kitten-sized flea collar she had long outgrown…but of course could not remove without human help.  Did she wander off from her family?  Was she abandoned?  We’ll never know the answers, but are thankful she showed up one night when our SNAP volunteer was feeding other cats.  When Jezebel begged for food, our volunteer took in her too-small collar, matted fur, and incredibly sweet disposition and took her home without hesitation. Jezebel’s foster mother looks forward to her daily chats with her pretty feline visitor.  Jezzie knows how to make her wishes known, especially when she wants wet food!  She tolerates other cats, but Jezebel would probably prefer being the only feline in a household.  Her foster mother explains that Jezebel is a self-sufficient young cat, and maneuvers in her current foster environment very well, which is probably a by-product of living on the street.  Jezebel can get along with anyone. Jezebel loves the company of humans, and escorts her foster mother from room to room. We believe that because of Jezebel’s sweet temperament and endless patience she would do well with children, too. Jezzie’s favorite snooze spots include napping with her foster mother in a human bed, or curled up in her cat tree.  For such a beauty, she is low maintenance except when she begs for tummy rubs! Jezebel is ready to bring her living art to your home gallery.  This scrumptious girl is fully vetted, spayed, up to date on all shots and tests, and ready to meet her forever family.  As an adult, her adoption fee is only $25, too.  Jezebel’s foster mother would love to arrange a meeting between you and Jezebel, so drop us a note to set up a first date.  You can also pre-apply to adopt Jezebel...
