ADOPTED!! And the Award Goes to….Oscar! Adoptable Action Hero Kitten, Atlanta.

Slim, sleek, and well-groomed, Oscar is a dashing thunderbolt of kitten energy who spends his days prowling along the wall, hiding the shadow of cat trees and stalking unsuspecting multi-colored toy mice with lethal focus. Watching Oscar with his kitten roommates is a delight as they pounce and roll and tackle and dive.  Oscar, in particular, quickly catapults from bench to ledge to cage and back again in record time, landing with complete grace and tumbling into his customary somersault.  Oscar is the picture of active, playful, kittenhood, and he can’t wait to leave the adoption center and venture into the big wild world. Like all seasoned hunters, Oscar knows that blending in is key and has chosen a monochromatic color scheme:  his black nose, black paw pads and black whiskers compliment his black fur.  He has deep green eyes, and the smallest bit of white fluff under his chin.  Once you get to know him, he’ll even let you pet it. Oscar gets along very well with other cats, and was born at his foster mother’s home, so he’s had a good start to his life.  His ideal family would be one with other animals to play with, plenty of room to rehearse and act out his next action adventure script, and most of all, plenty of interaction and love from his humans. We would love to introduce you to Oscar.  Drop us a note, or pre-apply to adopt Oscar...

ADOPTED@!!!!! Mad About Mango: Playful Tropical-Colored Adoptable Kitten, Atlanta

ADOPTED@!!!!! Mad About Mango: Playful Tropical-Colored Adoptable Kitten, Atlanta

If you are a SNAP follower, you might remember Papaya and Guava, who were adopted over Christmas.  Mango is their oh-so-active brother who, at the time of their adoption was absent from SNAP’s line up because he went exploring in an unused fireplace and ended up covered with soot!  After a few other adventures, Mango is now all cleaned up and ready for action. In September of last year, a nice lady found Mango’s pregnant mother and took her to a veterinarian. Mango was born at the vet’s office, and lived there during his first days.  Today he is a cuddly, active, all-kitten ball of fur that demands your attention and steals your heart – quickly. Mango is predominantly white, with a sweet peach nose and peach paw pads.  He has delicious mango-colored patches scattered in his coat: his tail is mostly mango, and there are patches of mango on his head, with one mango tabby-like strip off of his pretty green eyes.  He’s sort of a patchwork mango cream kitten that will grow into a striking adult.  His fur is short but thick, and feels wonderful beneath your hands. Mango has long white whiskers and perky ears that glow pink…that he loves to have rubbed!  He’s very curious and persistently head-bumped the camera while we were trying to capture him in action. Mango gets along very well with his other kitten-mates at the PetSmart adoption center near Howell Mill & I-75, where he currently lives.  He loves playing, and darts from one friend to the next to tackle, jump, and roll.  He also seeks out human attention, and enjoys affection and playtime.  One of the best things about Mango is that he adores dogs, as you can see from the picture below Because he is an active kitten, typical for his age, Mango should be adopted to a home that has other animals that want to play.  He will also benefit from – and bond – by having humans in his life who play with him regularly and help expend that kitten energy in socializing games. Aren’t you mad for Mango, too?  Drop us a note to set up a meeting, or pre-apply to adopt online.  We can’t wait for you to meet...

ADOPTED!! Do Fries Go with that Shake? French Fry Knows.

ADOPTED!! Do Fries Go with that Shake? French Fry Knows.

This little man, French Fry, is our newest cover cat at the SNAP website, and it’s not hard to see why:  he is personality plus with wide, tilted green hazel eyes, long white whiskers, chubby black cheeks, and the most adorable white stripe running down his nose that ends in a diamond at the very tip.  French Fry has four white paws (can you see how politely he crosses them?) a white bib and endless cattitude.  Basically, he’s the perfect wide-eyed, innocent image of a calendar kitten. This fluffy four-month-old will have medium length hair as soft as silk.  He is affectionate, and welcomes humans although like most cats, he likes to take a few minutes to get to know you.  Once he does, he’s a purr machine on serious autopilot.  French Fry is very interested in everything you have to say and will cock his head just to hear you better. French Fry will nestle on your shoulder, and likes to walk up his foster mom when she’s on the sofa and create kitten biscuits on her legs and arms, because he knows he’ll be rewarded by kisses!  Both he and his equally lovely brother, Tater Tot, purr easily, are very motivated by food (like most cats) and are starting to meow. Now is the perfect time to adopt French Fry and his brother Tater Tot, because they are at the ideal age to bond closely to a human family, and are still young enough to let you enjoy all their kitten innocence and loveliness.  Like all SNAP kittens, they are neutered, up to date on tests and vaccinations, and microchipped.  French Fry is generating a lot of interest, so we encourage you to pre-apply online if you think he’s as special as we do.  Ping us with any questions you might have, too. Tater Tot and French Fry live at the Howell Mill adoption center (I-75 & Howell Mill), so stop by and see them!  Seriously, just look at that face.  It’s sure to bring a smile to...

ADOPTED!! Nimble Ninja Kitten Seeks Atlanta Home; Good Conversation a Must

ADOPTED!! Nimble Ninja Kitten Seeks Atlanta Home; Good Conversation a Must

Ninja is a delicate (and nimble, because all cat ninjas must be quick on their paws!) 12-week-old breath of kitten sweetness.  She has silky black fur, a white chest, and a black nose. Ninja is very playful and energetic and really loves to romp and explore with her brother Ice.  Her foster mother tells us that Ninja doesn’t nap often, but enjoys curling up on your lap when she does.  Ninja and her foster mother have great conversations, too; Ninja answers human speech with a tiny trilling chirp!  This smart girl is so talented that she helped her foster mom by sitting on her chest and supervising while her foster mother emailed the people at SNAP.  Ninja would love to come and help run your household too. Ninja and her brother, Ice, were rescued by a nice lady who saw them on Facebook and knew that she had to help.  The siblings were in bad shape when their foster mom got them – malnourished and dehydrated – but they have recovered wonderfully and fully.  Ninja was scared at first and even hissed at her foster mother, but that was a long time ago.  Today Ninja is playful, sweet, and a lap-cat-napper. Ninja would love to be adopted with her brother Ice, but it’s not a necessity as long as she is placed in a home that has other friendly pets.  Particularly since she is a kitten, her personality will blossom as long as she is allowed to play and bond with other animals.  Like all SNAP animals, Ninja is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and shots, and microchipped. Ninja thinks it’s time you set up a play date with her.  She’s planning to hypnotize you with her deep green eyes, black whiskers, and single white paw, but we promise…you won’t mind.  Drop us a note to arrange a meeting, or pre-apply to adopt Ninja online!  And be sure to check out her brother Ice,...

Adopted! Thompson the Masked Kitty Explorer

Adopted! Thompson the Masked Kitty Explorer

Thompson has a sweet, inquisitive face with fuzzy ears, huge green-yellow eyes that are outlined in black, a black triangle-shaped nose, and a black patch that covers his lower jaw and chin.  This curious boy adores attention;  he will climb into your lap or stop by, as you can see in the photographs, just to say hello.  He is energetic and full of kitten energy, scampering here and there, chasing a toy or playing hide and seek with his cat friends.  Thompson lives in a foster home with a number of other cats, and gets along well with all of them.  Because he doesn’t sit still for long, Thompson should join a house where he has playmates and lots of human attention, too.  Thompson is happy to sit still for his human friends…for a second, that is…before he’s off to his next adventure.  As soon as you think you might not see him for a while, he’s back, perhaps to cuddle in your arms or beg for a head kiss. Thompson works hard to make sure that he knows everything going on around him, and likes to investigate every nook and cranny of his surroundings.  He doesn’t approve of closed doors and will hang around until he can sneak into the room and make sure that everything is fine! Thompson has short/medium length black and white fur; his feet are white with tiny, cute, black paw pads.  He has long white whiskers and white eyebrows that spring from his black face mask. Although Thompson has not been exposed to small children, he lives with dogs without incident, although he doesn’t seek out their company.  Like all SNAP animals, Thompson is neutered, up to date on all shots and tests, and microchipped.  Thompson is dying for a play date, so drop us a line to set one up.  You can apply to adopt online,...

ADOPTED!!! Tortie Kitten, Paxton, Available for Adoption, Atlanta

Paxton is a lot of personality wrapped in a tiny kitten! She’s a lovely typically-colored tortie – black, brown, warm orange – with dreamy green eyes. Like most torties, Paxton is vocal, likes to be the center of attention, and has plenty to say to humans and other cats alike! Paxton was abandoned in an Atlanta area parking lot when she was six weeks old. SNAP was glad to welcome her into our foster program, where she lived happily with one of our volunteers and quickly made a best friend, Eric. Eric was adopted over Christmas, so now it is Paxton’s turn. Torties are known for bonding fiercely to their human family. Little Paxton is looking for her very own people, especially since Eric found his. We would love to arrange an introduction.  Drop us a line, or apply to adopt Paxton online.  Like all SNAP animals, Paxton is spayed, up to date on shots and medical procedures, and...

ADOPTED! SNAP Rescues Tippy, Missoni and Piper: Adoptable Atlanta Kittens

A significant part of SNAP’s work is helping the community help feral and forgotten cats in their work and domestic neighborhoods. A good Samaritan in Austell recently set out to save a feral family in her neighborhood. She managed to corral the kittens into her garage – but they were so tiny, so quick, and so frightened that she could not maneuver them into cages even though they were in an enclosed space! With some help from Austell PetSmart employees, they managed to catch these kittens. SNAP stepped in and set up the woman with low cost spay/neuter resources for 1 additional kitten which she kept, as well as the friendly mother. SNAP has taken these three beauties – Tippy (a female tabico), Piper (a long haired black and white male) and Missoni (a handsome Maine coon mix) – into our program to help them find their forever homes. Tippy is a tiny girl who seems shy at first – but after you pet her, she will beg for more attention.  She has lovely tabby markings and the distinctive orange hue of a tabico.  She has dainty white socks, deep hazel eyes, and long white whiskers.  Like all well-mannered kittens, when she snuggles down for a nap, she curls her tail around her neatly.  Tippy is still getting used to humans, but would like to meet you at the  Howell Mill & I-75 PetSmart.  Tippy is very attached to her brother Piper and would like to live with him forever. Piper is a striking longhaired black and white male.  His fur is as soft as down right now; he will grow into a sleek, attention-getting handsome young man.  He, too, has white socks, deep green eyes, and white whiskers that stand out against his mostly black face.  He has a thick patch of white fur on his chest that will help him look like the distant relative to the noble lion that he is!  Piper is still getting used to humans, too, but is eager for attention and purrs beneath your touch.  He holds his tail high no matter where he is headed, and would like to find his forever family.  Piper loves to play, so he should be adopted with another kitten (like his sister Tippy!). Missoni would serve as the perfect addition to any fashion-conscious home with his striking Maine coon features and deep green eyes that watch everything around him.   Missoni has a white bib, flowing fur even as a kitten, and sweet white socks.  His fuzzy ear tufts are charming, and he loves to be petted on his head and behind his ears.  He is a cautious, watchful boy, since he is just getting used to humans.  Missoni’s fur is in typical Maine coon colors, with cream, chocolate, black and gray. You can meet any of these kittens at the Howell Mill & I-75 PetSmart, where they live in our permanent adoption center.  Drop us a line to find out more details, or apply to adopt them...

Black Kitten Christmas Wonder: Nugget, Atlanta Adoptable Treasure

Black Kitten Christmas Wonder: Nugget, Atlanta Adoptable Treasure

Nugget is a super fun, young kitten that was found abandoned on the street.  A nice lady took him in and he’s been with SNAP every since.  Nugget is old enough to find his forever home, and we would like to see him with a nice family to welcome in the New Year.  Nugget is nearly solid black, with sprinkled white fur, and has deep, round, green eyes.  His white whiskers balance out his sweet black nose and pink paws. Nugget is about 14 weeks old, so he is a busy kitten with lots of energy!  He is all boy and loves to hunt, run, chase, climb, and play.  It is important that his forever home has a cat playmate for Nugget – preferably one that is a bit older then this kitten. This fluffy little boy is quite the talker and LOVVVVVES his wet food!!!!  But when it is time to relax, he craves human attention and seeks a warm lap – could it be yours? – to curl up on.  Nugget is available for adoption now, and like all SNAP kitties, is neutered, microchipped, and current on all shots.  You can drop us a line to ask more details about Nugget or other adoptable kitties, or apply to adopt him...

Tiny Tortie Peppercorn, Adoptable Kitten, Joins Atlanta Howell Mill Crew

Yesterday, three new kittens arrived at the I-75 & Howell Mill PetSmart adoption center in Atlanta.  This tiny girl, just over 3 pounds of purrs and fluff, stole our hearts immediately.  Although she was a little shy her first day, Peppercorn quickly warmed up and played with her friends and purred nicely for the volunteers.  She likes to be held, enjoyed chasing the feather toys, and climbed the tall, tall cat tree with no problem! Tiny Ms. Pepper was found by a good samaritan, who sponsored her care at an Atlanta-area veterinarian before she joined SNAP’s crew. Peppercorn will grow into her striking tortie good looks, and will have a lovely cream, brown and orange mask around her hazel green eyes.  She is already very sweet natured, and can be adopted alone to a home that can give her plenty of attention.  Peppercorn likes other cats and dogs too! Peppercorn is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all her shots.  You can see her any time at the Howell Mill and I-75 PetSmart, email us for more details, or fill in an adoption application online.  Volunteers are around every weekend afternoon to introduce you in person to the adorable Ms. Pepper,...

ADOPTED!!!SNAP’s Love Connection: Matching Special Animals like Pine with Special Homes

When this SNAP senior volunteer (pictured here) visited the Howell Mill & I-75 PetSmart adoption center, it only took a moment before this sweet kitty, Pine, crawled into her lap and would not budge until she talked to him, petted his ears, rubbed his tummy, and gave him a kitty kiss or two.  This gorgeous teenage kitty – and his outgoing personality and insistence on being with humans –  is a reminder that sometimes, slightly older or special needs kitties make ideal matches for seniors or people who need to remain close to home. For example, Pine lost an eye to an illness as a kitten, but he doesn’t know that he’s different.  He just likes to play, adores the other cats in the adoption center, hates to go back into his cage, and craves human companionship.  Pine was rescued from a trailer park north of Atlanta where SNAP actively works to maintain and protect the feral cats that wander in.  Pine, with his long white whiskers, dramatic stripes and soft as silk fur, is the farthest thing from feral.  Pine has been socialized by SNAP volunteers since he was tiny, and is ready to find a forever home. This holiday season, think about whether you or someone you know might have room for a SNAP kitty under the tree.  For special circumstances, SNAP has our Love Connection program, where we match special animals like Pine with loving homes who may need financial support to care for adopted animal. You can learn more by dropping us a line, or applying to adopt online....
