ADOPTED! ATL Pinkie-Swear Princesses, Asia & Adelaide, 9-week-old Adoptable Sisters

Asia and Adelaide are best friends. When one of them is out of sight, the other one is mystified (Asia cries, and Addie stages a manhunt!). When they run full speed at each other during kitten jousting, every tussle ends in a sweet nose bump (the equivalent of a kitten bff pinky-swear), and sometimes a kitty kiss. They like to sleep curled up like a huge pretzel, and are visibly happier when the other one is around. Asia and Addie are part of a litter of four that a man found in his driveway one day in a box: no note, no explanation or request for help. SNAP took them into our adoption program and now all four are neutered and spayed, and old enough to find forever homes. SNAP is working hard to adopt Asia & Addie as a bonded pair. Asia is a classic Seal/Snow Siamese. She is round and plump, and traverses a big room using little kitty hops. Of the two sisters, Asia is shyer, and a little more demure. She is the first one to scrabble into your lap and beg for attention, although Addie won’t be far behind. It’s hard to look away from her because her coloring is so delicate, but so pronounced, that you can’t help but admire the delicate shades of macchiato and cream that fade into a deep rich brown. Her round eyes are heaven’s blue, and she has a swoop of white on her tiny nose that will probably become more prominent as she ages. She has tiny white booties on her front feet, and her hind legs have caramel colored streaks down the back of them. Her tail is a full dark brown. Asia spent a lot of time tucked underneath her foster mom’s chin while they sat and read together and is very good at gently scaling her shirt to perch there quietly. She loves being handled by her human friends and even in the middle of shenanigans, will come back and check in with her two legged friends often. Although it’s too soon to tell, and their personalities still have a lot of developing to do, Asia could very well grow into an attentive lap cat. A lot will depend on how her future family socializes her. Addie has deep greenish-brown eyes, and medium length black fur that has a silvery sheen to her. When grown, we believe she will look like a “ghost whisper” kitty because she won’t be a solid black, but will shift with the shadows. She has a flick of white on her throat, and perky black ears and long black whiskers. Addie is definitely the instigator when it comes to getting into mischief, but she never leaves her little sister Asia behind. When she is tuckered out, Addie is glad to lay on her back in the crook of your arm and blink little love messages to you. If you’re lucky, she’ll even pat your face with her itsy bitsy paw and make kitty biscuits in the air. One reason we love Addie is that she makes friends with everyone around her, and manages to charm both her cat friends and all the human around her. Except for feather toys, that is. Feather toys know who is in charge because Baby Addie growls at them, and then carries them around with her! She even taught little sister Asia how to growl, too. Both of the princesses love to “smurgle” on their human and make tiny baby biscuits while gazing into their human’s eyes. At 9 weeks and barely two pounds,...

ADOPTED!! Seal Point Siamese Olivia: “Oriental Pearl” Seeks New Atlanta Home

ADOPTED!! Seal Point Siamese Olivia: “Oriental Pearl” Seeks New Atlanta Home

Gorgeous seal point Siamese Olivia is a moving, living piece of feline sculpture that our volunteers call the “Oriental Pearl.” Now that her equally exquisite pure black brother Oliver has found his forever home, Olivia is looking for her perfect match. Olivia is a flawless example of a seal point Siamese.  She has glowing blue eyes with the tiniest hint of turquoise and sky blue depending on the light. Her coat is an exquisite, delicate cream that graduates to her darker ears, tail and a lovely mask. Olivia is a gentle girl, under 2 years old.  For such a striking cat, she has a tiny, sweet meow when she wants to get your attention.  Like the living piece of sculpture we mentioned earlier, Olivia has a knack for sitting very very still, and is easy to move right past unless you’re looking for her.  She’s shy, but full of personality once you get to know her.  Olivia lets our volunteers rub her tummy, play with her ears, and luxuriate in her thick, soft fur; she’ll even exchange head bumps with you.  Like most cats, Olivia wants it to be her idea when her feet leave the ground – she’s not a big fun of being picked up!  She loves hanging out in her cat tree, and seeks out the company of other cats, too.  She’s gentle – Olivia is never aggressive to younger cats, even when they eat her food or swipe her toys – and would be a great addition to a home that has a relatively calm routine.  Olivia will join in with chasing wand toys or balls and has a habit of dunking her catnip mice in the water bowl to make sure they’re clean. Although Olivia is kid-friendly, her instinct is to hide at loud noises, sudden movements, or general hustle and bustle, so socializing Olivia is an important consideration for a potential adopter.  She’ll need time to get adjusted into a new home and her human family should be ready to help her move in bit by bit. Olivia has not been dog tested and we think that the key for her will be gentle, gradual introductions. Do you have room in your home art gallery for this treasure of a feline?  Olivia is a remarkable beauty and we can’t wait to meet her forever 2-legged family.  Email us if you’d like to arrange a get together, or apply to adopt Olivia online now!  Like all SNAP animals, Olivia is spayed, up to date on shots and vaccinations and...

ADOPTED! Striking Kitten Siblings Nicholas & Molly

ADOPTED! Striking Kitten Siblings Nicholas & Molly

Nicholas and Molly are a lovely brother and sister pair who are ready to find their forever home.  These sleek and affectionate siblings are tightly bonded, and will be adopted as a pair.   Nicholas and Molly were abandoned at an apartment complex on Dresden Drive in Atlanta, and were living with no food and shelter when they were found. Today, at four months, they are happy, plump, friendly, full of purrs and extraordinarily beautiful, an unusual mix of markings and breeds.  Nicholas, a Snowshoe Siamese mix, has extraordinary coloring: black, cream, tan, and white.  He has expressive green eyes, white whiskers, and a tiny pink nose.  Nicholas starts purring the second you pick him up, and gets along well with other cats, especially his sister, Molly.  He is curious and runs all around the adoption center, exploring every corner, while periodically checking back with the people in the room for pets. Molly is a white tabico Maine coon mix, another unusual combination.  Molly has the same deep green eyes as Nicholas, dramatically lined in dark brown, and white whiskers.  She likes to be petted behind her ears, which gives you a chance to play with her long ear tufts; she curls her bushy, swishy tail around herself when she sleeps.   Her chest and legs are primarily white, but her back and head are beautiful shades of tabby brown, but longhaired, with the tinge of warm orange that makes her a tabico.  Molly also loves human company, and is a sweet lap kitty. You can meet Molly and Nicholas at the Howell Mill adoption center on Howell Mill Road.  Drop us a line if you’d like to learn more!  They’d love to meet you.  (PS:  You can apply to adopt online,...

ADOPTED! Hanging with Adoptable SNAP Kitties on a Perfect Atlanta Autumn Day

ADOPTED! Hanging with Adoptable SNAP Kitties on a Perfect Atlanta Autumn Day

Today was a gorgeous autumn day here in Atlanta, and it seemed like the whole town was out and about – including our SNAP foster parents who brought their SNAP wards to PetSmart to meet prospective homes. Oliver and Olivia are a tightly bonded male/female pair of siblings.  As you can see, Oliver is as black as night while Olivia is a chocolate point Siamese.  Our volunteers call them “Oriental twins” because they both have beautiful tilted eyes, well-sculpted faces with distinctive profiles, and delicate limbs.  Adopting these two would adding a piece of living piece of artwork to your home. Olivia’s eyes are pale blue, and Oliver, who we call the Black Pearl because he is incredibly soft – and rare – has lovely green eyes.  Oliver and Olivia must be adopted as a set. Today was the first day at PetSmart for Girlie and her two children, Angel and Andy.  They were trapped at the Red Lobster in Stone Mountain, and are being fostered by a SNAP volunteer.  They are all a little nervous at the attention, but show promising signs of becoming used to human handling.  Andy is a handsome orange male, and was very laid back (as evidenced by his mother, Girlie, using him as a bed most of the afternoon).  Angel is fluffy and will grow into a gorgeous multicolored long-haired love bug. Carl is a handsome, easy to love all-black male. He’s very affectionate and loves to sleep with his foster mother and foster cat friend Pringles every night.  Carl is about a year old, and is the last of his siblings to be adopted.  Carl and his siblings were rescued from an apartment complex when they were just a few days old, where they were found abandoned in a breezeway in a locked pet carrier.  Carl has come a long way since then, and is waiting to meet his forever family. Oscar just arrived into SNAP’s care.  Oscar was rescued by a loving family and well-taken care of; you can tell by how nicely he adjusted to strangers handling him and how comfortable he is with being petted and held.  Unfortunately, the family’s landlord changed their pet policies and they were not able to afford the exorbitant deposit and monthly charge, so they reluctantly asked us to find him a home.  Oscar met lots of nice people looking for beautiful kitties just like him today! Tiny Rae, who is our cover girl on the SNAP web site this week, is available for adoption, too.  Rae has wide-set gentle eyes, loves to play with her furry mouse and dunk it in her water bowl, and adores attention.  Rae was rescued from a trailer park where SNAP maintains a relationship with the caregivers.  This gentle buff kitten is active and curious, and pets your cheek with her paw if you look away for too long when she wants to play! A handsome foursome – Bobby, Pammy, Pip, and Paula – kept us entertained at PetSmart by lining up in perfect symmetry and watching the world go by.  These lovely siblings all have distinctive personalities and are waiting patiently to meet their forever family.  They have all been fostered together, and are very friendly, and adore being around humans. Even though he’s still a kitten, Andy is chillaxed and happy to watch what happens next. Andy and his sibling Angel and mother Girlie were rescued from a Red Lobster. Pretty Angel! Posing for the camera her first day at PetSmart. Angel was a little nervous today, but will grow into a striking cat. She is...
