ADOPTED!! Rebel with Fuzzy Paws: Reb La Rue Seeks New ATL Haunt

Reb La Rue reminds us of a bad boy black and white movie lead from the 1950s that had female movie-goers swooning in their seats.  He’s long, lanky and angular with rugged good looks, a crested brow over piercing green eyes, a swashbuckling swagger that hints at a shadowy past (confirmed by a scar across his nose) and a soft side that he reserves just for the ladies.  It’s your lucky day, though, ladies, because Reb’s had enough of playing the field and ready to settle down for the long haul with the right partner! Reb La Rue entered SNAP’s care about a month ago when his family moved and couldn’t take him with them.  Even though he’s a year old, Reb still has the spirit of a kitten.  He will chase feathers on a string with single-minded ferocity, and also play fetch with his favorite crinkly noise toys. He’s an expert climber who can scramble to the top of his cat tree in 3 seconds flat.  In fact, Reb can turn just about anything into a toy, including slippery desk tops and empty boxes. Reb was already a nice young man when he came to stay with his foster mom, but he’s gone through some pretty big changes .  The biggest ones are that Reb got neutered and became used to staying indoors.  He’s been a good sport about changing his tomcatting ways, even though he had a lot to say about it at first.  SNAP also patched up a few injuries Reb acquired (as unfixed rebels are prone to do) during a scrap with another cat before he joined the SNAP family.  This young man is really a lover, though, and not a fighter.  When he wants attention, he will stretch and gently pat your knee and beg for a lift up.  Once in your lap, if you recline, Reb will stretch across your chest and begin to purr.  He also likes to be cradled like a baby and will nod off quickly and steal a kitty nap in your arms.  Sometimes he might tuck himself beneath your chin, or pat your cheek gently with his black paw pads.  His nose glows a sweet pink (like his ears), and if you’re close enough to snuggle with Reb you might notice that his eyes are really two colors of green.  He’s a classic handsome tuxedo, with long white whiskers, a white chest and forelegs, and a long black tail. Reb is incredibly helpful in his foster mom’s office, demonstrating that he has business savvy as well as flair.  He is an expert proofreader and helped his foster mother work nearly every day, as you can see by the pictures below!  Mostly, he curls around her laptop to make sure that it doesn’t get cold, and helps her by pointing out bits of information on the screen that she might have missed. His specialty is clearing cluttered surfaces by carefully nudging objects to the floor, and then jumping down to investigate and make sure that his foster mother approves of his work.   When he’s not on her desk, he’s curled at her feet keeping watch to ward off any intruders that might break her concentration.  He likes to balance on his foster mother’s shoulders and sometimes surprises her by jumping on the back of her office chair unannounced.  When she’s typing really fast, he stalks her fingers on the keyboard! He is able to circle his room at his foster mother’s condo in just three leaps without ever touching the floor! Reb is all healthy young boy cat, and...

Bailey the Marcel Marceau Look Alike

Bailey the Marcel Marceau Look Alike

Bailey is a special, loveable black and white boy between four and five months old whose uniquely colored face reminds us of a mime’s grease paint!  It’s easy to fall in love with his quirky Marcel Marceau coloring; a broad white stripe starts on Bailey’s forehead and swoops down his nose, detouring around his black nose pad in the most cutely crooked way. Bailey became part of the SNAP family when he, his siblings and his mother showed up at a Stone Mountain location where a SNAP volunteer regularly feeds a feral colony.  After watching them, she realized that the little family was living in a nearby – and unsafe – storm drain.  Our volunteer decided that Bailey and his siblings could be socialized and placed with loving families.  She brought the kittens into her home, and made sure their mother was spayed, checked for health issues, and re-released to the feral colony. Bailey has blossomed in his new indoor life with his foster mother.  He recently visited the Buckhead PetSmart for an adoption event, and did very well despite all the noise and chaos!  He has huge, expressive green eyes and classic tuxedo black and white good looks.  His fur is medium length, and his white bib matches his sweet white feet.   Bailey has a gentle temperament, reacted well to strangers, and enjoyed the attention he received. Bailey is very curious, as you can tell from the pictures below…we took lots, but he was most interested in looking at his surroundings!  His foster mother tells us that Bailey is the most outgoing of his siblings, and is a purr monster when he receives human attention.  He loves to leap from cat tree to cat tree, and begs for love in the form of head rubs. Bailey will flourish in a home with other animals for companionship, so we would like to see him join a family with another kitten – one of his siblings would be idea –  or with a family that already has friendly pets.  He loves to play and needs an active outlet for all his kitten energy, and will bond very closely with the humans who can provide him with that. We think that every home needs a cat like Bailey, so we’d love to arrange a play date so that you can meet him.  Just let us know when you’re available.  You can always pre-apply to adopt Bailey online, too.  Like all SNAP animals, Bailey is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations and...

ADOPTED! Sleek, Mod Sophistication: Emma Peal

ADOPTED! Sleek, Mod Sophistication: Emma Peal

Emma (named for one of the icons of mod, Emma Peal) is a lovely female tuxedo kitty who lives at a SNAP foster home.  Emma was homeless when she gave birth to a large litter of kittens, but she and her offspring were lucky enough to get placed into loving foster care.  Although Emma adores her foster mother, they’ve decided it’s time for Emma to find her forever home! Emma – or Ms. Peal – is a stylish lap cat decked out in black and white mod sophistication.  She adores attention, doesn’t want to be left out of any of the action, and likes to be petted.  If you hold out your hand, Emma has a charming way of leaning into it so that you can reach that special spot under her chin. Emma’s trust, when she places her head in your hand and begs for affection, will melt your heart in a second.  Even though she is a mother, Emma is still a young cat, under two years old. When we visited, Emma was so excited to see visitors that she would not sit still for her pictures!  As you can see, she has long white whiskers, amber-green eyes, and pretty white go-go boots.  She’s a classic tuxedo dame with a white bib and mostly black face.  You may not be able to tell in these pictures, but her tail has the cutest way of forming a little shepherd’s crook when she’s happy – and that’s most of the time. Emma lives in a foster home with multiple other kitties, so she could join an existing cat family – but we also think she would be fine as an only cat.  Because of that, Emma’s future forever family could take many forms: an addition to an existing pet family, an only cat, a companion for existing kitties, or company around the house for a work-at-homer or retiree. Emma can’t wait to meet you.  What time is best for you?  Just let us know and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen.  You can pre-apply to adopt Emma online, too.  Like all SNAP animals, Emma is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and tests, and...

ADOPTED!!! Tuxedo-ed Green-Eyed Ella Seeks New Digs: Atlanta Adoptable Cat

Ella is one in a group of distinguished “E” named cats, including Emerald, Elise and Eliot.  They were rescued from an apartment complex near the Atlanta Waterworks at the same time that SNAP volunteers found the Charlie Brown gang. SNAP had received requests for help because multiple litters of kittens were born at the complex, and had no caregiver.  They hid from everyone who tried to capture them, and were eventually located in the basement.  The tiny kittens burrowed deep inside the individual cinderblocks that comprise the basement wall.  A volunteer actually had to break the cinderblocks to retrieve the terrified babies. Today, Ella is a lovely black and white tuxedo with long white whiskers, deep green eyes, and white socks.  She likes people and seeks out their company, and loves to play with other cats.  She’s friendly, social, and easygoing.  As you can see from the pictures, she approaches humans easily, and likes toys.  In fact, most of the pictures we have of Ella are just of two huge, green eyes, curious, and asking for a head pet. Ella would be the perfect low-maintenance addition to your household.  She has been exposed to dogs with no issues, although we have not kid-tested her.  Even though Ella is happy at her foster mother’s, she would like to find her forever home!  To arrange a meet and greet, please drop us a note.  You can also apply to adopt...

ADOPTED! Twinkle, Twinkle, Twinkle Toes! Adoptable abandoned young tuxedo cat, Atlanta

Twinkle Toes has silky black and white fur, long white whiskers, and alert green eyes that watch every movement around her.  She’s not accustomed to always being treated nicely by humans, but is learning to trust again thanks to a kind rescuer who found this 11-month old female abandoned in a dumpster at a local car dealership collision center.  She has a white muzzle with a tiny pink nose, a white bib, and four white paws…hence her name:  Twinkle Toes! Twinkle Toes is being fostered in the SNAP network for now, and is recovering from a slight nose injury.  Her foster mother tells us that Twinkle Toes is a huge love bug, loves people, and purrs easily and often.  Twinkle Toes is in good health, though, and becomes sweeter every day.  Twinkle Toes has all her shots, is spayed, and microchipped.  We’d like to find Twinkle Toes’ forever home to start out her 2013 – and her new family’s – the best way possible.  Drop us a line to arrange a meeting with Twinkle Toes, or apply to adopt her...

ADOPTED! SNAP Rescues Tippy, Missoni and Piper: Adoptable Atlanta Kittens

A significant part of SNAP’s work is helping the community help feral and forgotten cats in their work and domestic neighborhoods. A good Samaritan in Austell recently set out to save a feral family in her neighborhood. She managed to corral the kittens into her garage – but they were so tiny, so quick, and so frightened that she could not maneuver them into cages even though they were in an enclosed space! With some help from Austell PetSmart employees, they managed to catch these kittens. SNAP stepped in and set up the woman with low cost spay/neuter resources for 1 additional kitten which she kept, as well as the friendly mother. SNAP has taken these three beauties – Tippy (a female tabico), Piper (a long haired black and white male) and Missoni (a handsome Maine coon mix) – into our program to help them find their forever homes. Tippy is a tiny girl who seems shy at first – but after you pet her, she will beg for more attention.  She has lovely tabby markings and the distinctive orange hue of a tabico.  She has dainty white socks, deep hazel eyes, and long white whiskers.  Like all well-mannered kittens, when she snuggles down for a nap, she curls her tail around her neatly.  Tippy is still getting used to humans, but would like to meet you at the  Howell Mill & I-75 PetSmart.  Tippy is very attached to her brother Piper and would like to live with him forever. Piper is a striking longhaired black and white male.  His fur is as soft as down right now; he will grow into a sleek, attention-getting handsome young man.  He, too, has white socks, deep green eyes, and white whiskers that stand out against his mostly black face.  He has a thick patch of white fur on his chest that will help him look like the distant relative to the noble lion that he is!  Piper is still getting used to humans, too, but is eager for attention and purrs beneath your touch.  He holds his tail high no matter where he is headed, and would like to find his forever family.  Piper loves to play, so he should be adopted with another kitten (like his sister Tippy!). Missoni would serve as the perfect addition to any fashion-conscious home with his striking Maine coon features and deep green eyes that watch everything around him.   Missoni has a white bib, flowing fur even as a kitten, and sweet white socks.  His fuzzy ear tufts are charming, and he loves to be petted on his head and behind his ears.  He is a cautious, watchful boy, since he is just getting used to humans.  Missoni’s fur is in typical Maine coon colors, with cream, chocolate, black and gray. You can meet any of these kittens at the Howell Mill & I-75 PetSmart, where they live in our permanent adoption center.  Drop us a line to find out more details, or apply to adopt them...

ADOPTED! Hanging with Adoptable SNAP Kitties on a Perfect Atlanta Autumn Day

ADOPTED! Hanging with Adoptable SNAP Kitties on a Perfect Atlanta Autumn Day

Today was a gorgeous autumn day here in Atlanta, and it seemed like the whole town was out and about – including our SNAP foster parents who brought their SNAP wards to PetSmart to meet prospective homes. Oliver and Olivia are a tightly bonded male/female pair of siblings.  As you can see, Oliver is as black as night while Olivia is a chocolate point Siamese.  Our volunteers call them “Oriental twins” because they both have beautiful tilted eyes, well-sculpted faces with distinctive profiles, and delicate limbs.  Adopting these two would adding a piece of living piece of artwork to your home. Olivia’s eyes are pale blue, and Oliver, who we call the Black Pearl because he is incredibly soft – and rare – has lovely green eyes.  Oliver and Olivia must be adopted as a set. Today was the first day at PetSmart for Girlie and her two children, Angel and Andy.  They were trapped at the Red Lobster in Stone Mountain, and are being fostered by a SNAP volunteer.  They are all a little nervous at the attention, but show promising signs of becoming used to human handling.  Andy is a handsome orange male, and was very laid back (as evidenced by his mother, Girlie, using him as a bed most of the afternoon).  Angel is fluffy and will grow into a gorgeous multicolored long-haired love bug. Carl is a handsome, easy to love all-black male. He’s very affectionate and loves to sleep with his foster mother and foster cat friend Pringles every night.  Carl is about a year old, and is the last of his siblings to be adopted.  Carl and his siblings were rescued from an apartment complex when they were just a few days old, where they were found abandoned in a breezeway in a locked pet carrier.  Carl has come a long way since then, and is waiting to meet his forever family. Oscar just arrived into SNAP’s care.  Oscar was rescued by a loving family and well-taken care of; you can tell by how nicely he adjusted to strangers handling him and how comfortable he is with being petted and held.  Unfortunately, the family’s landlord changed their pet policies and they were not able to afford the exorbitant deposit and monthly charge, so they reluctantly asked us to find him a home.  Oscar met lots of nice people looking for beautiful kitties just like him today! Tiny Rae, who is our cover girl on the SNAP web site this week, is available for adoption, too.  Rae has wide-set gentle eyes, loves to play with her furry mouse and dunk it in her water bowl, and adores attention.  Rae was rescued from a trailer park where SNAP maintains a relationship with the caregivers.  This gentle buff kitten is active and curious, and pets your cheek with her paw if you look away for too long when she wants to play! A handsome foursome – Bobby, Pammy, Pip, and Paula – kept us entertained at PetSmart by lining up in perfect symmetry and watching the world go by.  These lovely siblings all have distinctive personalities and are waiting patiently to meet their forever family.  They have all been fostered together, and are very friendly, and adore being around humans. Even though he’s still a kitten, Andy is chillaxed and happy to watch what happens next. Andy and his sibling Angel and mother Girlie were rescued from a Red Lobster. Pretty Angel! Posing for the camera her first day at PetSmart. Angel was a little nervous today, but will grow into a striking cat. She is...
