Amazingly, in the United States today there are about 75 homeless cats for every one person. Most are feral cats who are not socialized to be with people and ideally are best off in outdoor rural settings such as farms where they can lead productive and happy lives controlling the mouse population – but can never make good house pets. The rest are newborn kittens or abandoned cats who can become or already are well socialized as house pets.
Experts agree that the humane solution to this nation-wide animal control problem is a combination of preventative measures including use of Spay/Neuter/Return programs + making Low-cost Spay/Neutering widely available + Adoption Services + Education and Community Outreach.
SNAP is committed to all these important approaches as a means of helping to stabilize our cat and dog populations nationwide and is dedicated to working tirelessly to provide the best humane treatment and management possible for our area homeless animal populations. Our story includes:
