SNAP transports pets every day between vet offices, foster homes and our adoption centers. Volunteering to ‘taxi’ our pets from one location to another is an everyday affair and a much needed volunteer service.
Most of our veterinarian offices and adoption centers are spread over a wide area of north metro Atlanta, from Sandy Springs to Duluth and back.
Volunteers who can transport animals to and from these locations can potentially help on any day, depending on their schedule, distance to travel, and the day-to-day needs of our animals. Taxi volunteers typically are asked to shoulder their own gasoline costs for transport services. We know this can add up to a big volunteer cost, so we respectfully try to spread taxi runs across as many volunteers as possible.
We also routinely pick up supplies from a variety of partner organizations, shelters and vet offices – and we have transport needs for these kinds of pickup runs – often on a regular basis, such as once weekly.
SNAP is proud of our volunteers and the good service they do in helping deserving pets find forever homes.
